Envato runs its affiliate programs on Impact, a third-party affiliate platform. If you want to earn commission by recommending themes and plugins from ThemeForest, CodeCanyon and the other Envato Market sites, Impact is where you sign up, create your links and get paid.
This article explains how the program works, how to apply and how to create the affiliate links you will use on your site.
Three Envato programs — pick the right one
Envato has separate affiliate programs, all managed on Impact:
- Envato Market — single item purchases on ThemeForest, CodeCanyon, VideoHive, AudioJungle, GraphicRiver, PhotoDune and 3DOcean.
- Envato Elements — the subscription with unlimited downloads.
- Placeit — the online mockup and design tool.
If you recommend specific themes and plugins, the program you need is Envato Market. You can join more than one.
How you earn
A visitor clicks your link, lands on Envato Market and buys an item. Impact tracks the visit with a cookie, so the purchase is credited to you even if it happens some days later. Commission is a percentage of the purchase as set in the program terms. Rates, cookie length and payout thresholds can change, so always check the current terms inside your Impact account before you plan your earnings.
Payouts are made by Impact, not by Envato, to the bank account or PayPal you set in your Impact profile.
How to apply, step by step
- Create an Impact account as a partner (publisher). Use your real details — they are needed for tax and payouts.
- Add your website. Impact may ask you to verify ownership, for example with a small code in your site header.
- In the Impact dashboard, find the brand Envato and open the Envato Market program.
- Apply and accept the program terms.
- Wait for approval. A site that already has real content about WordPress, design or development is approved more easily than an empty one.
Tip: publish a few useful articles before applying. An empty site with only a “Coming soon” page is often rejected.
How to create your affiliate links
Once approved, Impact gives you a tracking link for the program. You can create links to:
- the marketplace home page (for general recommendations);
- a specific item page — this is what converts best, because the visitor lands exactly on the product you recommended.
Impact uses a “deep link” system: your tracking link plus the URL of the page you want to send people to. Create a few by hand in the dashboard to understand the format.
Adding links automatically
If your store lists hundreds of items, creating deep links by hand is not realistic. Romelius Affiliate Importer builds the link for every imported product from one template. You paste your Impact link once in Settings → Affiliate, and every product button points to the right item. Because buttons go through a tracked redirect, changing your affiliate ID later updates every product at once, and you see click statistics on the dashboard.
Rules worth knowing
- Disclose your links. Add a clear affiliate disclosure on your site.
- No brand bidding or misleading ads unless the terms allow it.
- Use
rel="sponsored"on affiliate links — this is what Google asks for. - Do not present yourself as Envato or as the author of the items you promote.
Is it worth it?
The Envato Market catalog is huge, prices are clear and many items sell thousands of copies. The program rewards sites that help buyers decide: honest reviews, comparisons and curated lists for a specific audience. If you combine that with a store that stays up to date, it can become a steady side income.
